Walking Back To Me
I have this image
In the background of my mind
A small me
Tiny me
Distant memory.
He’s lost
But not at all sad.
He’s seeking,
But never hungry.
Although tears are streaming from his eyes,
He fears nothing
He knows, you see.
He knows that his other me,
Survived.
Lived.
Flourished.
He knows that any moment now,
His other me,
His future me,
Is going to turn around.
This me.
The adult me.
Turns my head,
This time,
I see him.
The boy.
His tears streaming,
The corner of his mouth upturning,
As we greet each other,
Eyes locked,
Giggles start:
It’s time.
As I gaze into his eyes,
As I walk lightly,
softly,
Definitely.
I walk towards a me,
Who although lost.
Always
Always
Always knew.
That I would come back for him.
Hello me:
We embrace.
His tiny hands,
Enveloped.
By me.
The man.
The story.
The newer version,
He always knew:
I would never abandon me.
In Love,
